Gang rape case filed against BNP leader, 4 others over schoolgirl's impregnation

A case has been filed for gang raping a 10th grade schoolgirl and impregnating her in Netrokona's Kendus.
The police have arrested the second accused in the case, Abu Mia, 36. However, the main accused, Bakul Mia, 50, the joint general secretary of Kendua Municipality BNP and the general secretary of Ward No. 5 BNP, is currently absconding.
According to the case report and family sources, Bakul Mia took the victim to a house on November 20, 2022, when she was in sixth grade, raped her and secretly recorded a video. Later, she was blackmailed and violated her at several times by threatening to spread the video on social media.
On Tuesday (August 25) night, the victim's father filed a case with Kendua Police Station, naming five people including Bakul Mia and several others as accused. The police conducted a drive that night and arrested the second accused in the case, Abu Mia, and sent him to jail through the court.

In addition, around March-April 2025, several people led by Bakul took her to a rented house through an associate of Bakul and gang raped her. This torture continued from January to July this year.
The matter came to light after a video went viral on August 1, and on August 18, a clinic test confirmed that she was six months pregnant.
On Tuesday (August 25) night, the victim's father filed a case with Kendua Police Station, naming five people including Bakul Mia and several others as accused. The police conducted a drive that night and arrested the second accused in the case, Abu Mia, and sent him to jail through the court.
Kendua Municipality BNP General Secretary Moazzem Hossain said that they are aware of the matter and party organizational action will be taken against the accused Bakul Mia.
Kendua Police Station OC Md Tariqul Islam said that the police drive is continuing to arrest the main accused and other accused.
