Nepal Flood: 384 tourists missing; No Bangladeshis on initial list

So far, no Bangladeshi nationals have been identified on the list released by the tourism board.

The disaster struck at around 8:30AM local time on Wednesday (August 26), when a sudden surge in the Bhotekoshi River triggered widespread disruption in the area.

Following the incident, the Nepal Tourism Board, Tourist Police and local travel agencies launched emergency efforts to establish the whereabouts and ensure the safety of tourists staying in the area or travelling along different routes.

According to the NTB’s second update bulletin, the preliminary figures were compiled from information provided by various local tour and travel agencies. The board said a total of 384 tourists and travellers were initially reported missing or unreachable.

Agency-wise, 71 passengers associated with Samrat Tours and Travels remain out of contact. They include 59 Indian nationals and 12 Nepali citizens.

Meanwhile, 92 tourists linked to Trackers Society have been reported missing. Of them, 77 are foreign nationals whose nationalities have yet to be confirmed, while the remaining 15 are Nepali citizens.

Another 55 passengers travelling with Leaf Holidays are also unaccounted for. The group comprises 46 Indian nationals and nine Nepali citizens.
