One dead, 15 injured in Sunamganj bus accident

A woman was killed and 15 passengers were wounded when a passenger bus fell into a ditch beside the Sunamganj-Sylhet highway at Janigaon around 10:30 PM on Monday (August 24).

Shiuli Rani, wife of Gobinda Das of Basantapur village under Dowarabazar upazila, met her death in the accident.

As per the information provided by the local residents and passengers, the bus was on its way from Sylhet to Sunamganj carrying around 45 passengers. While trying to overtake another bus at the Janigaon area, the bus fell into the ditch.

The injured persons were taken to hospital in Sylhet and Sunamganj by locals.

OC of Sunamganj sadar police station Ratan Sheikh confirmed the accident.
