Clinic Director Arrested in Lalmonirhat Over Alleged Rape of Schoolgirl

RAB has arrested a clinic director on charges of raping an eighth-grade schoolgirl in Kaliganj police station of Lalmonirhat.

He was arrested during an operation conducted in the early hours of Monday (August 24) in Chaporhat Chobbish Hajar village of the upazila.

The arrested Yosuf Ali,40, is the son of the late Asmat Ali from Kanchanoshor village in Kaliganj police station. According to RAB, he is the director of the local 'New Rupshi Bangla' clinic and a neighbor of the victim.

According to a RAB press release, on August 20, the victim's mother went to Lalmonirhat for the medical treatment of her six-month-old sick son. Taking advantage of the girl being alone at home, Yosuf Ali forcibly entered the house and raped her, as alleged in the case statement. Hearing her screams, local residents rushed to the scene, causing the accused to flee.

The girl's mother initially admitted her to the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex. As her condition deteriorated, the attending doctor referred her to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment.

Following the incident, the victim's mother filed a rape case as the plaintiff at Kaliganj Police Station. RAB informed that Yosuf Ali had been in hiding since the case was filed.

RAB-13 reported that based on specific information, they conducted a raid at Ershad Ali's house in Chaporhat Chobbish Hajar village at 3:20 AM on Monday and arrested Yosuf Ali. He was subsequently handed over to Kaliganj Police Station for further legal proceedings.
