Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel seized Indian liquor and 2,000 dexamethasone tablets worth an estimated Tk 667,500 in two separate raids along the Daulatpur border in Kushtia on Sunday.
Acting on specific intelligence, members of Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) conducted the raids in the areas under Charlichpara and Mathurapur Border Outposts (BOPs) to prevent the smuggling and infiltration of drugs along the border.
In the first raid, BGB personnel recovered 40 bottles of Indian liquor, worth approximately Tk 60,000, from Charlichpara Para Math area under Charlichpara BOP. The drugs were found abandoned.
Later, another team conducted a raid in the Refugee Para Math area under Mathurapur BOP and recovered five bottles of Indian liquor and 2,000 dexamethasone tablets, with an estimated seizure value of Tk 607,500. The items were also found abandoned.
Kushtia Battalion (47 BGB) said it remains vigilant and firm in preventing border crimes, smuggling and the infiltration of narcotics. Intelligence operations, surveillance and raids to prevent the entry of drugs and smuggled goods through the border will continue, the battalion said.
