A new policy for primary education will be formulated within a month based on feedback from workshops being held across the country, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Babi Hajjaj has said.
He made the remarks while addressing a day-long training workshop on “Reforming classroom activities, monitoring, accountability and administrative structure in primary education” at the Shilpakala Academy in Barishal city on Sunday.
“We aim to complete the workshops in all divisions by the end of this month. We have already successfully completed workshops in three divisions and received positive feedback. Based on the opinions gathered from these workshops, a new policy will be formulated within the next month,” he said.
He said the activities of primary education institutions and stakeholders would be conducted in line with the new policy.
The state minister said no abrupt changes would be made to the education system. Necessary and practical changes would instead be introduced based on feedback from divisional representatives and field-level officials.
He said the primary education community, including officials of the ministry and Directorate of Primary Education, headteachers, assistant teachers, deputy directors, district primary education officers and upazila education officers, was working to make the system more organised and efficient.
He also called on all stakeholders in primary education to work together to build a well-educated and education-friendly Bangladesh.
The workshop was chaired by Barishal divisional Deputy Director of Primary Education Nilufer Yasmin. Officials from different levels of the primary education sector also attended the event.
