The Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) Sri Lanka has opened its first international office in Dhaka, marking a new step in its global expansion and strengthening access to international higher education for Bangladeshi students.
The Dhaka office will provide prospective students and parents with information, counselling and guidance on studying at IIT Sri Lanka, as well as international progression opportunities to the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
The office was inaugurated virtually in the presence of Prof Jahirul Haque, International Advisor; Md Jahanger, Founder Principal of Legend International School; Md Shahriar Parvez, Founder of Legend International School; representatives of Legend International School; academics and industry leaders; and senior officials of IIT Sri Lanka.
The opening reflects the institutions' shared commitment to expanding cross-border educational opportunities and strengthening collaboration between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
The new office will serve as a point of contact for Bangladeshi students seeking information about IIT's academic programmes, admissions and international study pathways.
With Sri Lanka emerging as an attractive destination for internationally connected higher education, IIT said the Dhaka office would help students explore globally recognised academic pathways while benefiting from the experience of an established higher education institution.
The initiative is also expected to strengthen IIT Sri Lanka's engagement with Bangladesh's education community and connect more students with higher education opportunities in Sri Lanka and beyond.
The establishment of the Dhaka International Office reinforces IIT Sri Lanka's vision of creating accessible, internationally connected education pathways and preparing students for an increasingly globalised world.
