The Asian University for Women (AUW) campus in Chittagong hosted a vibrant ceremony to mark the closing of the 2026 "Math and Science Summer School," supported by Chevron Bangladesh.

The program concluded with the distribution of certificates to 104 college girls from across the country who completed the intensive four-week course.

Divisional Commissioner of Chittagong Dr Md Ziauddin attended the event as the Chief Guest. Director of Operations at Chevron Bangladesh Ashiq Rahman and Lead Advisor of Community Partnerships at Chevron Dee Bourbon joined him on the dais as distinguished guests.

Their presence highlighted Chevron's long-standing partnership with AUW and its commitment to building an inclusive education system for women in Bangladesh.

Director of the Summer School Dr Mohiuddin Ahsanul Kabir Chowdhury expressed gratitude to the students and faculty for their dedication. He noted that the program continues to serve as a beacon of opportunity for young women nationwide.

Special guest Ashiq Rahman said Chevron has proudly supported the Math and Science Summer School since 2019 to encourage young women to pursue STEM education and unlock their potential.

Special guest Dee Bourbon remarked that Chevron remains proud to back an initiative that helps young women build confidence, expand their knowledge, and pursue opportunities to shape their futures.

In his address, Chief Guest Dr Md Ziauddin praised AUW and Chevron Bangladesh for their dedication to advancing women's education and preparing future leaders in STEM fields. He emphasized that initiatives like the Summer School play a vital role in shaping the next generation of scientists, innovators, and changemakers.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the "Emerging Woman Leader in STEM" award to nine participants for their exceptional performance and leadership potential.

Since its inception in 2019, the Chevron Bangladesh-supported AUW Summer School has provided 477 young women from across Bangladesh access to specialized courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer programming, and public health taught by local and international faculty.

Chevron Bangladesh operates three gas fields in the northeast of the country, producing about 60 per cent of total domestic natural gas and over 83 per cent of domestic condensate.
