Bangladesh Chief of Army Staff (CAS) General Waker-uz-Zaman said that the Rohingya crisis has placed severe pressure on the nation’s environment and economy.

This remark was made on Thursday (August 20) while speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Capstone Course at the National Defense College (NDC) auditorium in Mirpur Cantonment.

The CAS highlighted multiple national challenges and said along with Rohingya crisis, crimes such as drug trafficking and smuggling are ongoing in the various parts of the region. He also mentioned border issues, disputes with neighboring countries, instability in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, and the energy crisis.

General Waker-uz-Zaman said course participants shared their experience and expertise on these matters. He noted that such exchanges would help them contribute significantly to solving national problems in their respective fields. He added that these challenges cannot be resolved overnight.

Addressing the participants, the Army Chief emphasized that experienced individuals attending the course can play a key role in policy-making, law formulation, and problem-solving.

He noted that 37 participants from various sectors, including professors, doctors, judges, and lawyers, attended the course. He described the gathering as an excellent blend of professional experience that enriched mutual knowledge.

The Army Chief thanked the Commandant, faculty, and staff of NDC for successfully conducting the course. He expressed hope that such programs would continue in the future.

Senior military and civil officials from the armed forces, various government and non-government organizations, NDC faculty, and other dignitaries were present at the ceremony.
