Fire at RTG crane in Chittagong Port brought under control

A fire that broke out at Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) crane of  New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT) of Chittagong Port on Monday afternoon has been brought under control within 30 minutes.

The fire broke out around 2:30 PM  at RTG-4014, stationed at Berth No. 4 in the southern section of the terminal, said Additional Secretary and Acting Secretary of Chittagong Port, Md Nasir Uddin, reports UNB.

On information, the port authorities and a firefighting unit of the Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence and the Bangladesh Navy launched a coordinated operation and brought the blaze under control within about 30 minutes.

However, the overall situation is now normal, said Nasir Uddin.

No casualties were reported and the cause of the fire could not be known yet.
