BNP leader killed in Noakhali road mishap

NOAKHALI, June 17: A BNP leader was killed in an accident in front of the Boyarchar Manik counter on the Subarnachar-Chairmanghat road in Harani Union of Hatiya Upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased Md Sohel Mahmud, 45, was the former president of the West Branch BNP of Chanandi Union, and the son of Siraj Uddin of the union.

Union Chhatra Dal President Sarwar Hossain Shuvo said that he left for his village home in Chanandi Union on a motorcycle on Wednesday morning. On the way, when his motorcycle reached the Boyarchar Manik counter area, a bus hit him, leaving him seriously injured. Later, he died on the way to the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital at around 12:15 pm. 
Officer-in-Charge of Hatiya Police Station Md Kabir Hossain confirmed the incident.
