Committee secretary among 2 suffer bullet wounds inside mosque in Khulna

Two people sustained bullet injuries inside a mosque during Fazr prayer in Khulna Metropolitan on Sunday.

The incident happened at Pashchim Kashimpur Bidyut Kendra Jam-e-Masjid under Daulatpur Police Station in the metropolitan city.

Injured mosjid committee secretary Lokman Hakim, 45, was immediately taken to Dhaka as his condition critical and and Alam Mandal, 55, was admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital.

According to  police and eye witnesses, a group of armed miscreants entered the mosque during Fazr prayer and started firing aiming at Lokman Hakim. Worshiper Alam Mandal, who was standing nearby, was also injured by bullets.

Lokman, who was shot on his head, was taken to Dhaka in critical condition.

Khulna Metropolitan Police's Assistant Commissioner Md Abdur Rajjak said, ''Police are on the spot, investigation is underway.''
