BD embassy distributes GI-certified mangoes in Nepal

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu distributed more than 1,750 kilograms of premium Bangladeshi mangoes to Nepali dignitaries, senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders, civil society representatives, and other friends of Bangladesh as part of its annual “Season’s Best Compliments” initiative.
 
The embassy said the initiative, described as a diplomatic gesture of goodwill and friendship, reached more than 360 recipients, including Nepal’s President, the Speaker, members of the Council of Ministers, ambassadors, and members of the diplomatic corps in Kathmandu.

The distribution statistics

The mangoes were freshly harvested from two orchards in Chapainawabganj, often referred to as Bangladesh’s mango capital. According to the embassy, the shipment was transported to Nepal through Banglabandha Land Port, Fulbari Land Port, and Kakarbhitta Border Crossing to preserve quality and freshness, said a press release on Friday, June 12, 2026.

The consignment consisted of the Khirshapat variety, a GI-certified mango widely regarded as among the most flavorful varieties in the Indian subcontinent.

The embassy said the program was intended to highlight the enduring friendship and people-to-people ties between Bangladesh and Nepal. It described the distribution as a symbol of warmth, goodwill, and cultural diplomacy aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations.
In its statement, the Embassy of Bangladesh expressed appreciation to all those who helped make the “Mango Diplomacy” initiative in Nepal a success.
