BNP activist gunned down in Khulna

Rafiqul Islam Gazi

A local activist of ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party was shot dead in Khulna on Friday afternoon, June 12, 2026. 

The deceased is Rafiqul Islam Gazi, alias ‘Dhakaia Rafique,’ a convener of Batiaghata Upazilla BNP. 

Labanchhara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Syed Mosharraf Hossain confirmed the matter. 

He said that a group of miscreants on motorcycle shot at Rafiqul at Mathabhanga area in Khulna city in the afternoon. The victim sustained a bullet injury in the abdomen.  Rafiqul was later rushed to Khulna Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead, said the OC.

Mosharraf said that they were investigating into the matter.
