Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called on industries to embrace innovation and sustainable production practices to remain competitive in the evolving global marketplace, where consumers increasingly demand ethical and environmentally responsible goods.

In a message marking World Accreditation Day 2026, observed on June 9, the Prime Minister said modern consumers no longer judge products solely by quality.

They also examine how goods are produced, including their environmental footprint, social responsibility standards and overall ethical compliance.

“To succeed internationally, businesses must adopt innovative and sustainable methods that meet these heightened expectations,” he said, emphasizing that competitiveness now depends on more than price and performance alone.

World Accreditation Day is jointly observed by the International Accreditation Forum and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation.

This year’s theme, Innovation, Trust and Sustainability The Power of Accreditation, reflects the growing link between quality assurance and long term economic resilience.

The prime minister highlighted the role of the Bangladesh Accreditation Board under the Ministry of Industries in strengthening the country’s quality infrastructure.

He described accreditation as more than a formal recognition, calling it a globally accepted system that validates compliance with international standards and enhances trust in products and services.

According to the Prime Minister, the board has so far accredited 168 institutions across government, private and multinational sectors. These certifications are issued under five internationally aligned schemes covering different areas of activity.

He expressed hope that the observance of World Accreditation Day would further reinforce Bangladesh’s commitment to quality, foster innovation and support sustainable industrial growth.

The Prime Minister also extended his best wishes for the successful celebration of the day, underscoring its importance in building trust and credibility in Bangladesh’s expanding export economy.
