The countdown to the 2026 FIFA World Cup is gathering momentum as the United States, Canada and Mexico finalize preparations for what will be the largest World Cup in history. The tournament will feature 48 teams and matches spread across host cities in all three countries, marking the first time the competition is jointly hosted by three nations.

As excitement builds among football fans worldwide, concerns over ticket availability and pricing continue to dominate discussions. FIFA recently faced criticism after a website error mistakenly allowed some supporters to obtain tickets without payment before the bookings were cancelled and fans were asked to purchase the tickets at the correct price. Ticketing practices and rising costs have become major talking points ahead of the tournament.

Political issues are also casting a shadow over the competition. Debate surrounding the role of U.S. President Donald Trump, visa policies and international travel restrictions has generated concern among some supporters and participating nations. Iran’s preparations, for example, have been complicated by diplomatic tensions and travel-related challenges, highlighting how global politics may influence the tournament experience.

Security preparations are being intensified across host cities. Authorities in the United States have studied fan-management strategies used in major football nations and are deploying advanced technologies to help ensure safety during the month-long event.

Despite concerns over costs, logistics and politics, anticipation remains high. Fans from around the world are looking forward to the unique atmosphere, international unity and memorable moments that have long defined the World Cup. Organizers believe the tournament will showcase North America on an unprecedented scale while delivering a global celebration of football.
