Two fugitives held in Faridpur woman murder case

KHULNA, June 2: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 have arrested two fugitives accused in the sensational murder case of Rikta Akter, who was allegedly subjected to torture and killed by her in-laws over dowry demands in Faridpur's Boalmari Upazila.
According to a RAB-6 press release, a team of the elite force's Headquarters Company (Bhatiapara Camp), acting on a tip-off, conducted separate drives in Kashiani Bazar area and Bhatraidhoba area under Kashiani Upazila of Gopalganj District late at night and arrested the two accused.
The arrestees were identified as Jewel Mir, 28, son of Jalal Mir, and Riba Begum, 47, wife of Jalal Mir, both residents of Boalmariupazila in Faridpur District.
RAB said Jewel Mir is the husband of the victim, Rikta Akter, while Riba Begum is her mother-in-law.
