More than a hundred people have allegedly attacked and hacked a man to death in Manikganj Sadar Upazila.

The incident occurred around 3am on Saturday in North Putail village, said Manikganj Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Abdullah Al Masum.

The deceased was identified as Md Sajib Mia, 29, a resident of North Putail village.

Citing locals, ASP Masum said that on Saturday night, Sajib was staying in a house in North Putail. Around 1:30am, more than 100 people attacked the house.

The attackers hacked Sajib with sharp weapons and he died on the spot.

The police officer also said that locals claimed Sajib was engaged in various criminal activities, including robbery and drug charges.

His existing enmity with others led to his "murder by mob."

Police recovered the body after the incident was reported. The ASP also said that necessary legal action in the incident was under way.    "bdnews24
