Toddler drowns in Netrokona pond

A toddler died after drowning in a pond in Netrokona's Kalmakanda upazila on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Abu Talha, 2, son of Abdul Karim of Garampura village under Rongchhati union in the upazila.

According to hospital sources, the child accidentally fell into a pond adjacent to their house in the morning without the knowledge of family members.

After searching for some time, relatives found him floating in the pond and rescued him.

Later, he was rushed to Kalmakanda Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Kalmakanda Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Abul Hashem said police had been sent to the spot after receiving information about the incident.
