Fire breaks out at Kalshi slum

A massive fire broke out at Kalshi slum in Mirpur area of the capital on Monday evening, sparking panic among local residents. 

The Fire Service and Civil Defence department received news of the blaze at approximately 7:23 PM.

Rozina Khanam, duty officer of the Fire Service control room, confirmed that two firefighting units reached the spot immediately after the report to begin dousing the flames. As the fire spread, three additional units were dispatched to the scene to assist in the operation.

Firefighters are currently working to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to adjacent buildings and residential blocks. 

While the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined, no casualties have been reported thus far. 

Local authorities are monitoring the situation as emergency teams continue their efforts to bring the fire under control.
