15 killed as truck overturns on Dhaka-Tangail highway

Fifteen people were killed and several  injured after a rod-laden truck overturned on the Dhaka-Tangail highway in Tangail's Kalihati upazila early Monday.

All the deceased were traveling on a truck towards North Bengal ahead of Eid.

The accident took place in the Saratail area at the eastern end of the Jamuna Bridge around 4AM.

The accident occurred in the Saratail Dakshinpara area while the truck was travelling towards northern Bangladesh, carrying passengers, heading home to celebrate Eid, according to Elenga Fire Service Station in-charge Ataur Rahman.

The vehicle lost control and overturned after reaching Kalihati, leaving at least 15 people dead on the spot and several injured.
