Three Bangladeshi nationals were killed in a landmine explosion near the zero line of the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban on Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 1:00 PM near border pillar number 41 in the Ghumdhum union. Police and local sources reported that the tragic event unfolded when the men went to work in a banana plantation situated close to the no man's land.

The deceased were identified as Akyamong Tanchangya, 40, Chikyang Tanchangya, 34, and Shaifuching Tanchangya, 32. All three were residents of Balukya Para in the Ghumdhum union.

According to locals, a landmine, allegedly planted by Myanmar forces along the border, exploded suddenly, killing Akyamong on the spot. When Chikyang and Shaifuching rushed forward to rescue him, they were also caught in subsequent mine blasts and died at the scene. Local residents later recovered the bodies.

Naikhongchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mozammel Haque confirmed the casualties. He stated that the bodies were being transported to a local hospital and that appropriate legal actions would be taken following a proper investigation.

Naikhongchhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Enamul Hasan also verified the incident, confirming that the explosions took place right at the zero point of the international border and that standard administrative and legal procedures are currently underway.
