2 business establishments fined in Satkhira

Two business establishments were fined for producing adulterated ice cream in Satkhira’s Debhata upazila on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, a mobile court led by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) and Satkhira district executive magistrate Saiful Islam conducted a drive in Parulia area and fined two ice cream manufacturing establishments a total of Tk 2 lakh for producing adulterated and unsafe food items.

During the drive, “Shila Ice Cream” was fined Tk 1 lakh and “Madina Ice Cream” was fined Tk 1 lakh under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009, for producing ice cream using adulterated, health-hazardous ingredients and illegal manufacturing methods.

RAB-6 CPC-1 Company Commander (Acting) Additional Superintendent of Police Zain Uddin Mohammad Ziyad confirmed the drive.

Officials said that the drive was carried out to ensure public health safety and the production of safe food, adding that such operations would continue in the future.
