Train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route remained suspended temporarily after a fire broke out in the engine of a running train in Mymensingh’s Trishal upazila on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 4:30 PM in the Aulianagar area when the Mohanganj Express, bound for Mohanganj from Dhaka, was passing through the area.

According to officials, smoke was suddenly seen coming out from beneath the engine of the moving train. Sensing the danger, the train driver immediately stopped the train and managed to bring the fire under control.

Railway authorities temporarily suspended train movement on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route following the incident.

Mymensingh Railway Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) confirmed the incident.

He also said that train services would resume after the situation returns to normal and necessary inspections are completed.
