Two officials have been removed from duty after an incident of wrong question set distribution in the SSC Physics examination at Dinajpur’s Iqbal High School centre.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning when students were mistakenly given “Set-3” question papers instead of the officially assigned “Set-1” for the examination under the Dinajpur Education Board.

According to officials, the board had earlier determined question set allocation through a lottery system. At 9:00 AM, Board Chairman Professor Touhidul Islam instructed that Set-1 be used for the exam.

However, at Iqbal High School centre, the assigned tag officer and centre secretary failed to verify the instruction properly and conducted the examination using Set-3 question papers. The error was discovered after the exam when question papers were cross-checked with other centres, triggering concern among students and guardians.

Dinajpur Education Board Controller of Examinations Professor Borhan Uddin said an emergency meeting was held after the incident came to light.

“As the exam has already been completed, the evaluation will be done based on the question set used at that centre. There will be no negative impact on students’ results,” he said.

He added that administrative action is being taken against those responsible.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) SM Habibul Hasan confirmed that Centre Secretary Selima Sultana and Tag Officer Anwarul Islam, Upazila Rural Development Officer of Dinajpur Sadar, have been immediately relieved of their duties.

He said a detailed investigation is underway and the education ministry will be recommended to take further disciplinary action. He also instructed all examination centres to maintain stricter monitoring to prevent such incidents in the future.
