The arrest took place around 10:30 PM in the Imon Ali Road area of Patharghata municipality.

The arrested person is Md. Arafat Rahman Abhi, son of Ansar Ali. He is the assistant secretary of Barguna district unit of JCD and also previously served as the member secretary of Patharghata Upazila unit.

According to police sources, acting on a tip-off, a team conducted an anti-narcotics raid at Abhi’s residence.

During the search, officers recovered 510 pieces of Yaba pills and seized Tk 10,000 in cash, which is suspected to be proceeds from drug sales.
