2 killed in Netrokona bus-CNG autorickshaw collision

Two individuals were killed and three others were injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a CNG-run autorickshaw in Netrokona’s Purbadhala upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as Aynal Haque, 57, son of late Kashem Ali of Dakkhin Kaldwar village under the upazila, and an unidentified man aged around 50.

According to police and local sources, the incident occurred around 8:00 AM on the Shyamganj-Birishiri road in Ilashpur area near Purbadhala Fire Service office when a Mymensingh-bound passenger bus collided head-on with a CNG-run autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction, causing Aynal Haque to die on the spot and three others to be injured.

Being informed, fire service personnel rescued the injured and took them to Purbadhala Upazila Health Complex, where the unidentified man succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.

The injured were identified as Molla Mia, 45, of Dakkhin Kaldwar village under Agia union, Dr Sara Tabassum Urmi (MBBS), a physician at Purbadhala Upazila Health Complex and Md Monir Hossain, 23, of Phulpur in Mymensingh.

Purbadhala Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the incident and said that police recovered the bodies.

He added that the bus driver fled the scene after the incident and legal action is underway.
