DU student found dead in Badda residence; teacher, friend in custody

A female student of Dhaka University (DU) was found dead at her residence in the capital’s Badda area on Sunday, leading police to take a university teacher and a fellow student in for questioning.

The deceased, Munira Mahzabin Mimo, was a Master’s student at Department of Theatre and Performance Studies from 2019-20 academic session. She was the daughter of Mohammad Golam Mostafa from Shibchar upazila in Madaripur district and lived with her family in Uttar Badda.

According to Badda Police Station sub-inspector Fatema Siddiqa Soma, police recovered the body around 9:30 AM after receiving information. The body was later sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for an autopsy.

Preliminary findings indicate that investigators discovered a note and information on her mobile phone referencing a teacher. 

Based on this, police brought the teacher in for questioning. A close friend of the victim, also a student, was likewise taken into custody for questioning.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing in this regard.
