BHOLA, Apr 17: Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed was accorded a warm reception on his first visit to his constituency after assuming office.

The reception was organized on Thursday night at the Lalmohan Upazila Parishad auditorium premises by a local organization named Nagorik Forum.

A large number of people from the upazila and surrounding areas attended the programme spontaneously. The Speaker was welcomed with floral greetings, applause, and expressions of affection. Leaders of various organizations presented him with bouquets, creating a festive atmosphere at the venue.

Speaking at the event, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said, "For a long time, the voters of my area prayed that I could return home with a flag on my car. By the grace of Allah, today I have come back with two flags. This has been possible because of your prayers."

He added, "I did not come here to receive a reception. I came to meet you and express my gratitude. Without Allah's blessings, it would not have been possible to attain such a responsibility. I never imagined I would reach this position."

Local public representatives, political leaders, academics, civil society members, and people from different professions also spoke at the event. They wished him success as Speaker and expressed hope that he would contribute more to the area's development.

The programme was chaired by a Nagorik Forum leader and conducted by a local teacher. It ended with a cultural programme featuring songs and dances by local artistes.

A festive mood prevailed across Lalmohan, with banners, festoons, and decorative arches set up on roads. Locals expressed their joy at seeing their leader after a long time.
