3 business establishments fined Tk 2 lakh in Nilphamari drive

A mobile court has fined three business establishments Tk 2 lakh for offences including food adulteration, illegal storage of polythene and hoarding of soybean oil in Domar upazila of Nilphamari district on Thursday night.

According to RAB, a mobile court, led by Domar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Shaila Sayeed Tanny, conducted a joint drive including RAB and army officials.

During the drive, Md Rezaul Karim was fined Tk 1 lakh, while Md Mohidul Islam of M/s Shahidul & Sons and Md Sabed Ali were each fined Tk 50,000, bringing the total penalty to Tk 2 lakh.

RAB-13 Senior Assistant Director (Media) and Additional Superintendent of Police Biplab Kumar Goswami confirmed the drive on Friday through a press release.

Authorities said the drive was part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal hoarding, overpricing and food adulteration in the area.

RAB-13 also said its intelligence surveillance and drives would continue as part of a zero-tolerance policy against such offences.
