MEHERPUR, Apr 7: An introductory meeting between the newly appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Meherpur and media personnel was held on Monday afternoon in the conference room of the collectorate building.

The session was chaired by the new DC, Shilpi Rani Roy, and moderated by Additional DC (General) Tariqul Islam. She was assisted by Additional District Magistrate Tajwar Akram Sakapi Ibne Sajjad.

During the meeting, various challenges and opportunities concerning the district were discussed, with particular emphasis on the fuel crisis and mismanagement of the distribution system. Journalists highlighted how irregularities and poor management in fuel supply and distribution are exacerbating public suffering. Additionally, concerns were raised over chaos in the education sector, the proliferation of private coaching businesses, and the involvement of some teachers in unethical activities such as online gambling.

In her address, DC Shilpi Rani Roy emphasised the important role of media workers in the district's overall development and problem-solving efforts. She sought their cooperation and assured that the issues raised by journalists would be taken seriously.

Prior to the meeting with journalists, a view-sharing session was also held in her conference room with politicians, freedom fighters, business representatives, and prominent civil society figures from Meherpur.
