4,500 litres of diesel seized in Meherpur, two held

MEHERPUR, Apr 6: Police have filed a case against the driver and the oil buyer in connection with the illegal unloading of oil from a lorry in the district. 

They were sent to jail through the court after the case was filed at around 5 pm on Friday.

The arrested are Ujjal Hossain of Chatian Village in the same upazila and Ripon Hossain of Saheb Nagar Village.

OC of Gangni Police Station Qasrul Al Mamun said that police conducted a raid after receiving information that oil was being illegally unloaded from a lorry for sale at a higher price at a fertiliser and pesticide shop in Sahebnagar Bazar. At that time, the lorry, which was loaded with 4,500 litres of diesel oil, was taken into police custody.
