Fuel trader fined for irregularities in Bagerhat

A mobile court in Bagerhat’s Mongla upazila has fined two fuel traders and a motorcyclist a total of Tk 89,000 for operating without valid licences and selling fuel at inflated prices.

According to sources, a mobile court was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and executive magistrate Naosina Arif in different areas of the municipality on Tuesday afternoon.

According to officials, one shop at Bagerhat Jetty was fined Tk 8,000 for failing to produce required licences and documents. Another trader at College Road was fined Tk 80,000 for selling fuel at higher-than-approved prices.

In addition, a motorcyclist was fined Tk 1,000 during the drive.

Assistant Commissioner (Land) and executive magistrate Naosina Arif confirmed the drive and said that such drives will continue to protect consumers and enforce market discipline.
