3 held with hemp in Habiganj

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-9) arrested three alleged drug peddlers along with hemp during a drive in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj district early Tuesday.

The arrested were identified as Mukhtar Mia, 29, Sakib Islam, 22 and Palash Tanti, 27, all residents of different areas of Chunarughat upazila.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB officials from Shaistaganj camp took position on the Amubazar road, intercepted a microbus and arrested them.

During the drive, RAB officials recovered 60kg of hemp and seized the microbus.

RAB-9 confirmed the incident through a press briefing and said that the arrested have been handed over to Chunarughat Police Station for further legal action.

A case has been filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act, added the officials.
