Hafiz Uddin Ahmed elected as Speaker of Parliament

Kayser Kamal elected as Deputy Speaker

Retired Major Hafiz Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikrom), lawmaker from Bhola-1, has been officially elected as the Speaker of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad.

The election took place following nominations in the parliamentary session and Hafiz Uddin Ahmed's name was formally proposed and endorsed by members across party lines.
Meanwhile, Barrister Kayser Kamal, State Minister for Land and MP from Netrakona-1, has been elected as Deputy Speaker of the 13th Parliament.

Their names were proposed for the respective posts and accepted by the House.

The maiden session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad began at 11:05AM on Thursday with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome speech from Leader of the House and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
