11 fined in Lakshmipur eviction drive

District administration carried out an eviction drive and fined 11 individuals for occupying footpaths and causing public inconvenience in Lakshmipur town on Monday.

According to the administration, a team of officials led by Executive Magistrates Nirupam Majumdar and Jannatul Chiddika Rahman conducted the eviction drive to clear the illegal structures and restore order in the municipal area.

The drive was carried out along Bazar Road, from Uttar Temuhoni to Dakkhin Temuhoni, where several shops and temporary structures had been set up on footpaths and parts of the road, obstructing pedestrian movement and contributing to traffic congestion.

During the drive, the mobile court fined 11 individuals a total of Tk 20,000 and removed a number of unauthorized shops and structures from the roadside.

Officials from the district administration said such drives will continue in the public interest to keep footpaths free from illegal encroachment and ensure smooth movement for pedestrians and vehicles.
