Japan crush India 11–0 in one-sided Women’s Asian Cup clash

Japan delivered a ruthless performance to thrash India 11–0 on Saturday in Perth, exposing the gulf in quality between the two sides and moving to the brink of the Women’s Asian Cup quarter-finals.

Hinata Miyazawa and Riko Ueki both scored hat-tricks as Japan ran riot against an overwhelmed Indian side in a completely one-sided Group C encounter.

Yuzuki Yamamoto opened the scoring just four minutes into the match, setting the tone for a relentless Japanese attack.

India struggled to cope with Japan’s pace and precision as the goals kept coming.

Japan were already 5–0 ahead by halftime, with Manchester United forward Miyazawa scoring twice as the Asian giants dominated possession and territory.

The second half brought more misery for India. West Ham United striker Ueki struck a rapid hat-trick, while Miyazawa completed her own treble as Japan continued their attacking onslaught.

The emphatic victory leaves Japan comfortably on top of Group C with six points from two matches. They have now scored 13 goals in the tournament without conceding, underlining their title credentials.

Elsewhere in the group, Taiwan revived their hopes of reaching the knockout rounds with a 1–0 win over Vietnam earlier in the day in Perth. Su Yu-hsuan scored the decisive goal in the 26th minute with a close-range header.

Vietnam, who began their campaign with a 2–1 win over India, struggled in the sweltering heat, with temperatures nearing 40°C. Despite late pressure, they managed just one shot on target.

Taiwan and Vietnam now have three points each, while India remain bottom of the group without a point after two matches.

Meanwhile, North Korea, South Korea, hosts Australia and defending champions China have already secured places in the quarter-finals with a game to spare.
