A shop was gutted in a fire that broke out in Kishore city early Saturday morning.

The fire originated from an electrical short circuit at a shop in Islamiya Super Market in the city, estimating a loss of over Tk 5 lakh.

According to locals, they found smoke coming from the shop after worshippers left for Fajr prayers and informed fire service.

Being informed, fire service dispatched seven units to the scene and they doused the blaze after about an hour of effort.

Confirming the incident, Kishoreganj Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Master Abdullah Khalid said that the flames did not spread to neighboring stores, as the affected shop was closed at the time.
