Elderly man killed in Chuadanga road crash

An elderly man was killed after being hit by a speeding battery-powered easy bike in Chuadanga Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.


The deceased was identified as Abdul Kader Malita, 65, a resident of Chakpara area of Alukdia village in the upazila. He was a timber trader and the father of three children.


According to locals, Abdul Kader Malita had gone to a nearby mosque early Saturday morning to offer Fajr prayers.


While returning home and crossing the road in the Alukdia Bazar area, a speeding battery-powered easy bike hit him, throwing him onto the road and leaving him critically injured.


Later, locals rescued him and rushed him to Chuadanga General Hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.


Confirming the incident, Chuadanga Sadar Police Station sub-inspector (SI) Manjarul Islam said that no complaint has been filed by the victim’s family yet, and further legal steps will be taken.
