Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Pakistan national cricket team.
The squad features several changes from the side that played the previous ODI series against the West Indies national cricket team in October 2025, with a few players missing out due to form and injuries.
Nurul Hasan, Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain have been left out of the squad.
Meanwhile, pacer Hasan Mahmud is currently recovering from a right tennis elbow injury, while fellow fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib is sidelined with back pain. Both bowlers are expected to regain full fitness by the end of the month.
Chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu said opportunities had been given to several middle-order players in recent matches, but some failed to secure their places.
“With that in mind, Afif Hossain has been recalled. He brings valuable experience and currently appears to be in good form. Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan has been retained, and this is a good opportunity for him to fulfil the potential he has shown,” he said.
The selector also expressed confidence in Liton Das despite his recent struggles in ODIs.
“There may be questions about Liton’s recent ODI form, but he has been working closely with the coaches. We believe he can soon produce his best in this format and are considering him as an option to strengthen the middle order,” he added.
