Three people were killed and 68 injured in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) following missile and drone attacks launched from Iran, the UAE’s Ministry of Defence said on Tuesday, adding that the vast majority of projectiles were intercepted.

Defence ministry spokesperson Major General Abdul Nasser Al Humaidi told a media briefing on Tuesday that 186 ballistic missiles and 812 drones had been launched from Iran towards the UAE in recent days.

According to the ministry, 172 of the missiles were destroyed, 13 fell into the sea and one entered UAE territory.

Al Humaidi said eight drones and eight cruise missiles were destroyed. He added that 68 people were injured and damage was limited to what he described as medium and minor levels.

The ministry extended condolences to the families of the three people killed and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.

Al Humaidi said the UAE “will not accept at any stage” any attack on its sovereignty and retains the right to take all necessary measures to combat aggression.
