Oil shipping rates hit all-time high

The cost of chartering a supertanker to transport oil from the Middle East to China has reached an all-time high of over $400,000, according to data from the London Stock Exchange Group.

This record rate applies to the largest oil-carrying vessels, capable of transporting up to 2 million barrels of crude oil.

The cost is nearly double what it was last week, when the US had threatened military action against Iran.
