Dear Sir,

A total of 403 students committed suicide in the country in 2025. Depression and arrogance emerged as the main causes of these deaths. This information was revealed in a report titled 'Student Suicide: A Growing Crisis' by the voluntary organization Anchal Foundation in an online press briefing on Saturday.

The report said that in analyzing the mental health situation of students in the country, news published in 165 local and national media outlets were reviewed. Based on this, information about a total of 403 student suicides at the school, college, university and madrasa levels in 2025 has emerged. This number is not just a statistic; it is also a reflection of family structures, strained social relationships and the limitations of mental health support systems. A comparative picture of previous years shows that 101 students committed suicide at the university level in 2021, 532 in 2022, 513 in 2023 and 310 in 2024.

All educational institutions need to reduce stress, depression or anxiety among students by providing psychological services and mental health screening for students. It is important to organize regular mental health awareness programs in educational institutions to connect students with their parents.

You have to remember that suicide is not a solution, you have to love life.
