A woman cut the genital of a man during an attempted rape in Joypurhat’s Khetlal upazila on Sunday night.
According to police, the incident occurred around 8:00 PM in Mundail village under Khetlal municipality.
The accused was identified as Nazrul Islam, 42, a resident from the same village, allegedly entered a woman’s house and attempted to rape her.
During the fight, the woman used a sharp blade to cut the accused’s genital.
Later, Nazrul was initially taken to Khetlal Upazila Health Complex and later referred to another hospital for advanced treatment.
According to locals, Nazrul had previously harassed the woman on multiple occasions, but she did not report the matter earlier due to social stigma.
At the time of the incident, the woman was alone at home when Nazrul allegedly grabbed her from behind and tried to force her onto the bed, prompting her to resist.
Confirming the incident, Khetlal Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nur Alam Siddiqui said a case has been filed and legal action is underway.
