Newly appointed Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman today held a meeting with a consultant from the Stolen Asset Recovery Task Force to accelerate the return of laundered funds.

The primary objective of the meeting was to enhance the recovery process and ensure that efforts to retrieve stolen assets from abroad are more fruitful, said a press release.

During the meeting, the governor issued specific instructions to take necessary steps with speed to bring back laundered money.

To ensure the retrieval process is prioritized, the governor directed that the recovery activities be placed on a 'Fast Track' status.

This mandate for 'Fast Track' implementation is intended to expedite the return of national wealth through a more accelerated and focused approach, he added.

The meeting between the head of the central bank and the Stolen Asset Recovery Task Force Consultant centered on making recovery efforts more effective.

This collaboration aims to refine the retrieval activities to ensure they are productive and achieve the goal of returning laundered assets to the country.

The governor emphasized that the process must be handled with the required urgency to yield successful results.
