The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed that two Bangladeshi nationals have been killed and seven others injured in missile and drone strikes across the Middle East.
A press release, issued on Monday by the ministry, confirmed the information on Monday (March 2).
One of the victims, Saleh Ahmed from Barlekha in Sylhet, was killed in Ajman, United Arab Emirates, after being struck by falling debris from an aerial attack on a civilian structure.
Another Bangladeshi national was killed in Bahrain, where three more were also injured in the same incident.
However, the ministry did not immediately disclose the identity of the second victim.
In Kuwait, four Bangladeshi workers were injured in a drone attack. They were identified as Aminul Islam from Nabinagar in Brahmanbaria, Rabiul Islam from Sathia in Pabna, Masudur Rahman from Begumganj in Noakhali, and Dulal Mia from Chandina in Cumilla.
All four have received medical treatment and are currently in stable condition. The Bangladesh Ambassador to Kuwait personally visited them at the hospital, and the embassy is maintaining regular contact with the injured.
The ministry also confirmed that the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation vessel Banglar Joyjatra is currently docked at Jebel Ali port in the UAE. The embassy is in communication with the ship's captain, and all crew members have been reported safe.
The government expressed deep concern over the escalating tensions in the Middle East, emphasizing that the safety of more than six million Bangladeshi nationals living in the region remains its highest priority.
Bangladesh embassies in the affected countries have been directed to advise expatriates to remain vigilant and follow instructions issued by local authorities.
The ministry said arrangements will be made to repatriate the bodies of the deceased once commercial flights resume in the region.
The government is closely monitoring the evolving situation and taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and welfare of Bangladeshi citizens abroad.
