A total of 74 flights have been cancelled at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka following escalating tensions across the Middle East after reported military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran.
Several Middle Eastern countries have shut down their airspace in response to the unfolding situation, triggering widespread disruption to international flight operations.
The impact has been felt directly in Dhaka, where dozens of scheduled departures and arrivals have been called off.
Although authorities have stated that the departure times of some flights have been rescheduled, passengers report that many journeys remain uncertain. Numerous travelers have complained about a lack of clear and timely information regarding their flight status, adding to the growing frustration at the airport.
Executive Director of the Shahjalal International Airport, Group Captain S M Ragib Samad, told the media that airlines cancelled a total of 74 flights in the last three-day from February 28 to March 2.
''We have received this information from the respective airlines.''
Airport authorities are advising passengers to contact their airlines directly for the latest updates as the volatile situation in the Middle East continues to affect global aviation operations.
