Man sustains critical injuries in Netrokona AC blast

A man sustained severe burn injuries after an air conditioner exploded and triggered a fire at a shop in Netrokona district on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 10:30 AM at Hena Digital Lab in the Akhra Mor area of the district.

The injured was identified as Raju Saha, 45, a resident of New Town area of the town. He was a trader by profession.

According to locals, Raju Saha entered his shop in the morning, opened it and switched on the electricity.

At that moment, two air conditioners inside his shop exploded simultaneously, sparking a fire, causing Raju to be injured seriously.

Later, locals rescued him and took him to Netrokona General Hospital for treatment.

Being informed, firefighters later arrived at the scene and brought the blaze under control. Electronic goods inside the shop were damaged in the blaze.

Netrokona General Hospital medical officer Dr Brishti Akter said that around 80 percent of Raju Saha’s body had been burnt.

Due to his critical condition, he was given initial treatment and referred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced care, added the doctor.

Netrokona Fire Service Station Officer Khane Alam confirmed the blaze and said that authorities are looking into the cause of the explosion.
