Gold prices rise again; 22-carat now Tk 261,040 per bhori

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again increased gold prices in the domestic market, raising the rate of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 per bhori to Tk 261,040.

The new prices were announced in a statement issued on Monday and took effect from 10:00 AM on the same day.

According to BAJUS, the latest hike follows an increase in the price of pure gold (acid gold) in the local market. The association said it reviewed the overall market situation before determining the revised rates.

Under the updated pricing structure, 22-carat gold will be sold at Tk 261,040 per bhori (11.664 grams), while 21-carat gold is priced at Tk 249,143 per bhori. The rate for 18-carat gold has been set at Tk 213,568 per bhori, and gold produced through the traditional method will cost Tk 174,785 per bhori.

BAJUS also noted that the final selling price must include a mandatory 5 percent government VAT and a minimum 6 percent wage fixed by the association. However, making charges may vary depending on the design and craftsmanship of the jewellery.

With this latest adjustment, gold prices in the country have been revised 32 times so far this year — increased 20 times and reduced 12 times.

Meanwhile, silver prices remain unchanged in the local market. The price of 22-carat silver stands at Tk 6,707 per bhori, 21-carat silver at Tk 6,415, 18-carat silver at Tk 5,482, and traditional method silver at Tk 4,082 per bhori.
