Fisheries and Livestock Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid has emphasised that children are the nation’s future and nurturing their talents is crucial for developing a capable and enlightened generation.

He made the remarks on Saturday while addressing a programme at Neura MI High School in Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Upazila, organised by Haji Md Zahirul Islam Foundation to mark the Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day.

The event involved distributing school bags to meritorious primary-level students.

“If we can develop today’s children properly, the country will have a generation capable of leading it forward,” the minister said, noting that Allah grants wisdom before wealth. He praised the initiative by Zahirul Islam as a reflection of his generosity and social responsibility.

Highlighting the importance of providing students with necessary resources, he said, “A school bag may seem small, but it can offer significant support. Initiatives like this motivate students to study and set a positive example in society.”

The minister also called on affluent members of society to contribute honestly and responsibly to the welfare of the country, adding, “The students assisted today will grow into future assets of the nation.”

Speaking on his ministerial duties, Amin Ur Rashid said the agriculture, fisheries, livestock and food sectors are closely linked to Bangladesh’s economy and the overall development of the country depends on improving farmers’ conditions.

He pledged to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to him by the Prime Minister with honesty and dedication.

The programme was chaired by Haji Md Zahirul Islam and attended by teachers, students, and local political leaders.
